After graduating from The University of Mississippi School of Law in Oxford, Channing Powell
was admitted to the Mississippi courts in 1986. That year also saw his admission to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the U.S. Tax Court. He was admitted to the U.S. Tax Court in 1987 and the United States Supreme Court in 1994.
Today, he is a member of The Mississippi Bar and The Order of Barristers.
As a former special agent with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service from 1978 to 1983, Channing Powell
also possesses unique insight into the tax implications that surround a divorce.Channing Powell
served in the United States Army and the Mississippi National Guard, where he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1993.
